You’re going to want the free gift in this post! It’s a meditation. To help you open your eyes. 

I’m a Lasik girl myself. So not a morning goes by where I don’t say the blessing of פּוֹקֵחַ עִוְרִים with a lot of appreciation. 

Because even though it’s been over a decade since I gave up my corrective lenses, I have an abiding sense of gratitude for being able to see clearly when I open my eyes. 

And yet, amazingly, while I see clearly, my eyes aren't always open to the things that are right in front of me. 

Like that time last week, when I was scouring my office space for the electrolytes I know always keep there. But somehow couldn’t find when I needed them most.

And then two days later, discovered them exactly where they were always meant to be, behind the water bottles I generally dump them into. 

It’s happened to you too, right? Missing something that's been right in front of you all along?

The ability to see is a gift.  

But there’s an entirely different sense of sight that is its own kind of miracle. 

It’s a seeing with the heart. 

And that’s what I pray for each morning these days. Just after thanking Hashem for the blessing of having been created כִּרְצוֹנוֹ - As He desired. As a woman. 

So many women struggle with this. 

The ability to recognize their role,

Envision their mission,

Trust in their purpose.

They wrestle with how they see themselves on every level, 

Spiritually, Physically, Intellectually, Emotionally, and S-xually

Ignite was birthed of the above. 

After years of questioning and doubting. Fighting with my body. With the image in the mirror. With the coulds and the shoulds and the wish I would haves but didn’ts that lived in my mind. 

It took years of work, and then a split second of precious surrender to have the experience of finally seeing for the first time, something that had been right in front of me all along. 

My Self

Every freckle, wrinkle, crease and laugh line. The road map of a storied life lived as tribute to the moment I was currently in. 

The awe that overtook me in that moment was an awe I spent the next few years trying to reclaim, and then attempting to give over to the women of Ignite. 

I was moderately successful. 

But Ignite is better now than it was when I first began. 

Because I’m not doing it alone.

Ignite has been growing each year with women who have made their own contributions over time. We’ve evolved as a tribe and supported each new incoming cohort with love. 

Because this is how it was always meant to be done. Elders welcoming newcomers, blessing them with the gift of sight. Revelation.

Learning to see ourselves through the loving eyes of another.
