Stepping In

ayeh breathwork camp full yes! motherhood parenting workshop Aug 05, 2024

Parenting is weird.

Today I’m breathing a sigh of relief even as my heart aches and my stomach clenches with anxiety.

My baby just left for camp.

(Okay, he’s not my actual baby, but seriously, are they ever done being our babies?)

Part of me is thrilled for him (and me)

And another is not breathing.

Is he going to be okay?

Going to love it?

Make friends?

Sleep well?

Figure out laundry?*

My friend Rachel and I were talking about it this morning. The struggle we face as parents when it comes to our kids’ independence and their growing up.

We want them to grow up.

We pray for them to become independent and wonderful adults.

We just want it all to happen according to our timeline.

And some of it does.

There are the milestones they hit right on schedule.

And some we worry they’ll never get to.

The early ones.

And the ones we never see coming.

The astounding talent that is also causing debilitating anxiety.

The cancer scare with one of our kids. (BH all good!)

Or the kid bullied so badly they took a month off of school.

And the child who underwent traumatic events that no one could have foreseen.

As parents we so badly want to know we can protect and love them and prepare them for anything.

But sometimes life happens on its own terms and we need to trust in the dignity of their soul’s path and their ability to swim, fly, walk, run, and succeed on the foundations we’ve worked so hard to give them.

I once asked my own mother how she deals with this aspect of parenting.

Watching me and my siblings struggle and grow and change and evolve.

And she said,

“No one helped me figure it out when I was your age.

I did it myself.

So I know you can too.

And also, you have something I didn’t have.

You have me.

Loving you.

As you navigate this as only you can.”

And so I sent my son off to camp today with love and hugs and trust.

Because he has something I didn’t have when I was his age figuring it out.

He has us.

And we're pretty awesome as parents.

I do say so myself.

And that’s why I’m excited to reopen the Ayeh Immersive Breathwork event for Monday, August 19. (Yes, even though it currently shows 24% chance of rain and who knows if I can launch this thing sucessfuly in two weeks?!)

Because everyone deserves the chance to have that kind of love and support in their lives.

We didn’t all get that from our parents.

Some of us had to do life alone.

Had to grow up before we were ready.

Hit milestones we didn’t know were ever going to be part of the program.

Immersive Breathwork is the opportunity to reset the board for our hearts.

To set ourselves up with the love, compassion, witnessing, and support we all deserved as we entered into this whirlwind of a world.

The world is always going to be a little crazy

Push us to extrmems we never thought we could handle.

But we could. And we have. And we will.

And with the power of what is accomplished when we can reparent some of our most vulnerable parts,

We’ll grow into it all in the best and most amazing of ways.

I hope you’ll consider joining us.**

* Pro tip. I bought him these. I sent him with enough pairs of socks for every day of camp +extra and told him they’re disposable. ANYTHING to avoid having to deal with that post camp sock stink! (Am I right?!)

** I also hope this time around the weather holds, we have the best staff, and the most amazing participants who are an absolute FULL YES joining us for the day.

*** Some of you reached out wanting to know if you’re eligible if you’ve only breathed with me once before or not at all. The reason I require two breath sessions is because this is an advanced workshop where you already have to have some faculty and experience with breathwork. If you would like to join, have prior breathwork experience, but it isn’t with me, please reach out and we’ll see if you’re a fit.

**** Pregnant women, I see you. We’ve have pregnant women join us before. It’s an amazing opportunity to womb breathe together with your babe. However, before joining us, please reach out so we can ask you the right questions and make sure we can take you through this experience as safely and kindly as possible. You deserve extra care!

***** Insecurity alert. This is one of the most profound and meaningful events that I offer. So much of my heart is tied into making it perfect. It sucked that I had to cancel July. I have fears around it not being perfect in August. Thanks for witnessing.

****** And for those of you who felt September would have been a better date…. There are opportunities taking shape for that week… if all works out according to plan, men will be welcome to join as well….stay tuned 🙂
